The Cumberland Show – Saturday 16 June 2018
As proud sponsors of the event, David Allen, Sue Winter, Steve Balmer, Ashleigh Williams, Hannah Cundall, Jen Jamieson, Karen Blaylock and Michael Peile attended the show and enjoyed the hospitality of the member’s marquee. It was great to have so many of the team in attendance representing our services, including accountancy, tax, employer services, and financial services.
The marquee was ideally located with an excellent view of the main ring to watch the show’s events throughout the day. We weren’t so lucky with the weather, but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits. All the team took every opportunity to enjoy the great array of trade stands on offer and the sun did make an appearance towards the end of the day, just in time for us to present the trophy to the Champion Horse, Valentino. Owned by Solway Sport Horses and ridden by Jackie Williamson, congratulations on your success.
Skelton Show – Saturday 7 July
We were delighted to support the event once again and with the heatwave Cumbria had been enjoying all week everyone had their fingers crossed that the glorious weather would hold out for the weekend, and we were not disappointed.
It is safe to say that everyone’s attention was on the quarter final match between England and Sweden, which was being played in the packed hospitality tent just across from our stand. Thankfully the uproars for each of England’s goals kept us updated, while we continued to look after our guests on our stand.
Now back to the show proceedings, we were proud to sponsor the classes: Texel Ram Lamb, Beltex Gimmer Shearling, and British Blue Unserved Heifer, all of which showcased some magnificent animals.
Dumfries and Cockermouth Show – Saturday 4 August 2018
The Dumfries Show took place at Park Farm, Dumfries. A busy day for #TeamDA, as not only was it our first appearance with a trade stand at Dumfries but we also had a team manning our stand at Cockermouth Show.
The Dumfries set-up team spent Friday getting the stand ready, with tea and coffee very kindly supplied by Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover. On hand to help with our fencing needs were DWS Fencing and GLS Fencing. A huge thank you to everyone who assisted, we couldn’t have done it without you.
Although we were showered with rain during the set-up we were rewarded by dry weather and sunshine on show day. The team met at the stand bright and early with a breakfast box supplied by The Waterfront Café in Dumfries, however there was no time to spare as guests and clients quickly ascended the stand to join us for refreshments. A very welcomed addition to our stand throughout the day were Heather Wildman from Saviour Associates Ltd and Alec Ross from Biocell Agri Limited, both locals who could show us the ropes and introduce us to many Dumfries Show regulars.
David Allen were very proud to sponsor the Interbreed Sheep Champion of Champions as well as the Aberdeen Angus Bull. We had an opportunity to speak with Jimmy Warnock of Sandilands Farm in Lanark for an interview to express our thanks for the support and that we were proud to be sponsors.
Overall our first Dumfries Show went down a treat, it was fantastic to catch up with fellow businesses and clients.
With all the excitement of our first Dumfries Show, we can’t forget our team of experts at Cockermouth Show. Everyone had a great day, we enjoyed fantastic weather which brought the crowds, we were proud to sponsor one again the classes Texel ram lamb and British Blue unserved heifer all of which showcased some magnificent animals.
Dalston Show – Saturday 11 August
#TeamDA are always proud to support the annual event and host our usual spot on the ringside.
It is great to see the community come together in the week leading up to the show. The Dalston Village Festival includes scarecrow exhibitions, flower festivals and workshops, to name a few and has become a focal point for the locals.
The show had a great turn out, thanks to the change in weather as the week went on and we were able to catch up with clients, contacts and friends, old and new, who visited us to enjoy a chat and some refreshments with us. Our cow, Daisy, was the star of the show and roamed the field throughout the day offering balloons.
David Allen was proud to sponsor the Clydesdales, showcasing some magnificent horses.
A special thank you to the ladies from Abacus Children’s Day Nursery who entertained the children. Everyone had a fantastic time and the fun activities throughout the day were a great addition to our stand.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone involved with the organisation of the 2018 shows, we thoroughly enjoyed it. A special thank you to each show’s committee who work tirelessly to ensure each day is successful year on year. We hope that everyone enjoyed the shows as much as we did and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2019.
