Last night a few staff and many clients attended Carlisle Youth Zone Charity Dinner held at Eden Golf Club. It was a black tie event so all the ladies got their posh frocks out.
We arrived at the marquee at 7pm and we were greeted at the door by The Mayor of Carlisle Mary Styth and her escort Jim plus singers and dancers from Explosive Productions and a glass of pink champagne.
We took our seats and enjoyed a 3-course meal starting with smoked salmon and prawns followed by chicken breast in a white wine and mushroom sauce then a trio of desserts which consisted of strawberry pavlova, lemon cheesecake and a chocolate log, which was delicious. There was also some lovely complimentary wine on the table, which helped our meal go down.
Entertainment was going on throughout the meal with dancers and a magician who really was magic! Once the meal had finished Carol Milnes, Managing Director of CA Events and daughter of the Mayor gave a speech to thank all the people that helped her organise the event.
Next up was David who thanked the Mayor for her involvement and informed us about the Carlisle Youth Zone which is being launched to support the young people of
Carlisle to give them a place to meet. He also gave his thanks to Dennis and Christine Studholme who sponsored the event.
Jerry Glover, who is Chief Executive of Onside Northwest, then spoke about the setting up of the Bolton Lads & Girls Club and how that inspired other clubs like the Carlisle Youth Zone to form. Finally, the Mayor of Carlisle spoke about her passion for supporting local charities including the Youth Zone and asked for everyone’s support.
With the speeches complete, there followed the raffle and the auction with some wonderful prizes on offer and the evening was rounded off by entertainment, again from Explosive Productions where everyone could dance and enjoy a very special evening.
