On 4 July 2013 myself, Alison Welton and Emma Marshall took part in the Academies’ Auditor Seminar, which was ran by the Education Funding Agency (EFA), in Manchester.
The day was split into a number of sessions with presentations from the EFA Assurance Department on the new Academies Accounts Direction 2013, along with other important regulatory updates and discussions.
We enjoyed getting involved in the seminar and we are perfectly placed to advise the academies’ sector, especially given this sector is experiencing large growth and changing regulation. The day also included presentations from Deloitte’s and the National Audit Office, along with ample opportunity for us to take part in the discussions on all topics.
In particular the seminar covered the guidance issued for the preparation of the upcoming 2012/2013 financial statements, the findings from the reporting for the 2011/2012 financial year and key messages for the preparation of the August Accounts Return which was issued at the end of June. In addition there was also a detailed session regarding the regularity reporting and the auditing approach to be taken for the 2012/2013 financial year.
If you would like to discuss the accounts preparation, auditing or regularity reporting for academies, please contact me on 01228 711 888.
