On Friday 31 October our resident calf Finlay and members of the David Allen team visited the 2014 Agri-Expo. The event was held at Harrison and Hetherington, Carlisle, with thousands attending from across the country to see the variety of stock and trade stands while enjoying the uncharacteristically warm temperatures of up to 20 degrees (the warmest Halloween in years)!

David Allen were very proud to sponsor the 2014 Dalston Show on Saturday 9 August.
Our team were busy setting up our stand on Friday afternoon, even managing to get our marquee set up before the heavens opened and thunderstorms and wind battered the show field.
Luckily, by Saturday morning the sun was peeking through the clouds as we arrived bright and early to give our stand its final preparations for the day ahead. With balloons blown up, drinks cooling in the fridge and a great view of the main ring we were ready to welcome everyone to our stand!

The annual Cockermouth and District Agricultural Show took place on Saturday 2 August with representatives from David Allen Agriculture, Accountancy, Recovery Solutions, Wealth Management and IT Solutions News in attendance throughout the day.
With the weather forecast showing weather warnings for the day, and rain throughout the day as we set up our stand on Friday, everyone had their fingers crossed that the sun would make an appearance as it had in previous weeks.

Skelton Show 2014 took place on Saturday 5 July and was yet again a great day out catering for all the family. Following all the glorious weather we had been having recently, our hopes were high for the bright blue skies we enjoyed last year, but we had our concerns as the team set up on Friday in the wind and rain! Thankfully the sunshine prevailed and the show enjoyed another sun filled day!
We had representatives from David Allen Agriculture, Accountancy, Wealth Management and Recovery Solutions manning our stand throughout the day and enjoying the show. It was great to catch up with existing clients and say hello to new faces while everyone enjoyed refreshments and advice from staff. Our stand had a fantastic view of the main ring where everyone could enjoy the day’s entertainments.

The 176th Cumberland Show took place at Carlisle Racecourse on Saturday 14 June 2014.
As proud sponsors of the event, myself and a number of other colleagues including David Allen, Michael Peile, Julie Osborn, Steve Balmer, Trudi Dickinson and Dianne McDermott attended the show with our guests and enjoyed the hospitality of the members marquee.
The marquee was ideally located overlooking the main ring which allowed us to watch the show’s events throughout the day. After enjoying champagne and delicious canapés provided by The Crown Hotel, Wetheral, Show Chairman Gillian Potts gave a speech where she welcomed everyone and thanked sponsors for their continued support. It was an extremely special and emotional day for Gillian as she handed over the reins of Chairman following the completion of her 2 years service. If that wasn’t enough, she also celebrated her 25 year silver wedding anniversary to husband Andy, to celebrate the occasion she had made her own ‘legendary’ fruit cake which was later served to guests during afternoon tea.

On Saturday 8 March H&H Borderway auction held its third annual Dairy Expo event.
Various members of the David Allen team were in attendance throughout both the Friday and Saturday. Our own auction booth was open and we all had the chance to browse the different trade stands which were in abundance, introducing ourselves to other businesses and professionals at the event, as well as having the opportunity to meet and catch up with our own clients.

On Wednesday 29 January, Michael Peile and I attended an evening reception of Working for Business and Agriculture with the Cumberland Show at Carrs Milling Industries based in Stanwix, Carlisle.
Throughout the evening we were treated to a delicious selection of canapés supplied by Taste of Cumbria while having the opportunity to meet and talk to other previous and potential business sponsors and supporters of the show. Taste of Cumbria have committed to attending this year’s event and there is a real buzz around them being present and the crowds they should pull in.
