Caldew Senior Annual Awards Evening

Last night, Thursday 18 October 2013, Craig Pollock and I attended Caldew School’s Senior Annual Awards Evening.

We arrived at Caldew School at 5.45pm and were welcomed with nibbles and refreshments in the canteen before being shown to our seats in the Theatre.

Mr McAree (the Headteacher) gave a welcoming speech and Mrs Wilkinson (the Chair of Governors) gave the final speech of the evening.

The awards were for students in years twelve and thirteen (the sixth form) and rewarded pupils for a wide variety of achievements.  The year twelve awards were for the recent GCSE results and year thirteen was for the AS Level results.

David Allen were proud to sponsor 10 awards including maths, business studies and ICT with students’ academic achievement and attitude to learning being rewarded.

In between the presentation of the awards, we heard two year eleven students perform two fantastic songs – they were truly amazing to listen to.

As ex Caldew pupils ourselves Craig and I were honoured to present the awards on behalf of the firm.

Going back to Caldew School brought back many memories of our school years. We were both overwhelmed by the changes made since we left in 2004 and we got to catch up with one of our mutual teachers Mr Hammond.

We would like to congratulate the students once again for their hard work and thank Caldew School for the wonderful evening.
