On Thursday 29 January we exhibited at Carlisle Skills Fair at the Sands Centre. The event was hosted by John Stevenson MP and was an opportunity for local employers, careers advisers and training providers to come together and let students and those looking for a different job or a new opportunity more information and advice on the numerous and exciting career opportunities throughout Cumbria.
The fair ran from 2pm until 8pm with a great turn out from a wide range of ages. Representatives from the David Allen team manned our stand throughout the day to meet visitors and give advice and information on the different routes into accountancy along with the other careers available through the David Allen Group. Coral Mowbray and Ruth Ferry were on hand during the day to give first hand advice on how to become an accountant, sharing their experiences around their training and the differing routes they have both taken so far on their accountancy career journeys. Not many people realise that there are a number of different routes into accountancy, you can start your training right after your GCSEs or your A Levels or you could take a different route after completing a university course – the choice is entirely yours!
At David Allen we strongly believe in investing in people and their futures and were extremely proud to be associated with, and have a stand at, the Skills Fair for the second year running. It was a great to meet so many people passionate about their future careers and with bright futures ahead of them. We are already looking forward to next year’s Fair.
