Yesterday, 30 January 2014, we attended Carlisle Skills Fair at the Sands Centre in Carlisle. The fair was organised by local MP John Stevenson and aimed at bringing together students and young people with local employers, training providers, colleges and universities, allowing them the opportunity to find out more about the different routes and career opportunities available to them.
At David Allen we strongly believe in investing in people and their futures and we were proud to be associated with such a beneficial event in our area. We had representatives from the firm on hand at our stand at the event giving advice on the different routes into accountancy as a career. They confidently explained their own different experiences of how they had progressed their individual careers giving first-hand advice on how they have got to where they are today.
The event ran from 2pm until 8pm and had a great turn out, from pupils getting ready to sit their GCSE or A Level examinations, to people looking into apprenticeships and the different options available to them as well as others who were looking for a complete career change. It was fantastic for us to meet so many people with aspirations and bright futures ahead of them (and some possible future accountants in the making!)
