Charity Bonfire Night Extravaganza

On Saturday 28 November David and Alison Allen kindly opened their home once again for a bonfire night extravaganza in aid of our Charity of the Year initiative.  Having been rained off earlier in the month our rescheduled bonfire night was open to all of the David Allen team along with their family and friends.  Despite the horrendous weather we had in the run up to the evening, I was delighted to see so many people come out to support and enjoy the event.

The evening started at 6pm with the lighting of the bonfire and was followed by an amazing display of fireworks for all to enjoy.  The fireworks were all kindly donated by our attendees and thanks go to Mark James who did a great job co-ordinating the show – even if a couple of the fireworks went slightly off course towards the greenhouse at one point!  Following the display we all flocked into David and Alison’s home to warm up, enjoy some drinks and heart-warming food which included jacket potatoes, soup and hotdogs.  For those with a sweet tooth there were sweet treats to follow with home baked cakes and an endless supply of goodies for all the children.

After warming up and enjoying all the food on offer the children took part in some party games including pass the parcel, musical statues and musical bumps.  There was a Christmas themed colouring competition and even a pin the nose (carrot) on the snowman for all to get involved in with a Christmas prize on offer to the winners!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it was a great opportunity to raise money for our fantastic charities while catching up informally with colleagues and friends.  Guests were given the opportunity to make donations throughout the event for the refreshments and activities on offer and I’m delighted to announce that we raised £200 which will be added to our on-going fundraising pot for Eden Valley Hospice and Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland.

We have lots of future events planned to raise money for our Charity of the Year initiative, from Christmas shopping trips, to quiz nights, coffee mornings to fashion shows.  For further details of all our upcoming events please keep an eye on our website or to find out more about our Charity of the Year initiative click here.
