With the festive season upon us we have been celebrating here at David Allen with everyone getting into the Christmas spirit – we were even lucky enough to have a visit from Santa!
This year our festivities have been for a good cause as while we have been celebrating we have also been raising money for our Charity of the Year initiative. On Thursday 17 December, we held our annual Christmas Jumper Day and all donned our Christmas jumpers and festive accessories – one member of the team went far enough to wear a Christmas dress! While we were all dressed for Christmas there seemed no better time than to hold our ever competitive David Allen Christmas Bake Off.
Eager bakers from across the company dusted off their aprons and created some delicious Christmas themed cakes. A team of judges then chose the best of the bunch and once announced, all cakes were sold (and enjoyed) with all the proceeds going towards our charity fundraising.
Our judges certainly had their work cut out for them this year with cakes including a chocolate Christmas pudding, a toffee cheesecake, a chocolate and orange Christmas tree, and festive carrot cake for them to sample. After much deliberation (and the closest judging we have ever seen) it was Sarah Priestley’s carrot cake that was given the top prize (with Julie Osborn’s delicious chocolate orange Christmas tree cake coming in a close second).
Each year we hold a company-wide Secret Santa and we were very excited this week when Santa himself delivered our presents around the office. He had many a fun present to deliver from his sleigh with gifts ranging from bottles of bubbly to beautiful scarves, and even an R2-D2 desk hoover for one of our Star Wars fans – we certainly had a lot of fun opening up all of our goodies.
The fun didn’t stop there as we were then treated to David and Alison Allen’s lucky dip present giving (we know, we’re spoilt!). Alison and her little helper went around our office with Santa’s lucky dip bag and asked us all to pick out a number. Each number related to a mystery present which ranged from luxury bath goodies and chocolates to shopping vouchers and even a cash gift of £200! The top present of the £200 was won by Julie Wray-McCann who was completely overwhelmed by the generous gift.
We all feel so lucky to work for such an amazing company and we are all proud to be a part of the David Allen family. From everyone at David Allen we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
