We were treated to a wonderful night; fantastic food and an evening filled with many different inspiring stories. Guest speaker Caroline Thomson, former chief operating office at the BBC gave us a fascinating insight to her work at the BBC and host for the evening Kim Inglis, former Border Tyne Tees presenter was very entertaining.
In our category all three finalists David Lowe, Claire Watson and Samantha Birkett-Leigh were exceptional and it was a shame there could only be one winning award. However, after great deliberation by the judges the winner was announced as Claire Watson of Pure Touch in Cockermouth, her Beauty Salon offers tailored holistic beauty treatments using natural products, she also firmly believes in personally mentoring each staff member so they can reach their full potential. I went up on stage to present the award to Claire who was truly thrilled to have won.
I would like to congratulate all winners and runners up; hopefully they will all inspire more people to take the plunge into running their own business.
