We attended the LEAG (Large Employers Affinity Group) meeting this morning where Joe Hendry, the new Leader of Carlisle City Council, and Jason Gooding, Chief Executive gave a talk about their roles within Carlisle City Council.
It was very interesting to hear of their roles and what they are striving to achieve. Joe is very passionate to energise Carlisle City Centre and is focusing his efforts in revitalising areas of the town whilst considering the infrastructure involved. Jason spoke of his role in translating the Leaders manifesto into practice by supporting and advising on these plans.
Many questions were raised in the meeting on topical areas such as the Airport, retail units, car parking, broadband and Green energy. It is very evident that decision making is one of the biggest hindrances that the Council face which leads to business and public frustration.
Both Joe and Jason are keen to meet with business representatives to establish how the Council can work with the business community to achieve shared goals going forward.
