David Allen were proud to sponsor the 2013 Dalston Show on Saturday 10 August.
After the recent weather we had seen and the forecast not looking too positive, our team were prepared for the rain with our David Allen umbrellas, but luckily apart from a few spots around mid-day we enjoyed sunshine and clouds which really brought the crowds down to Dalston showfield.
This year we had introduced a new addition to the David Allen team… Buttercup the cow! Buttercup enjoyed roaming around the show all day handing out both balloons and cuddles to all and acting as a fantastic mascot for our obstacle course team.
To keep Buttercup company, we had representatives from David Allen Agriculture, Accountancy, Recovery Solutions and Wealth Management all in attendance. Our team had a great time at the show taking in the atmosphere and inviting clients, contacts and friends to join us on our stand for refreshments, information, advice and a great view of both the main ring on one side and the horse ring on the other.
During the afternoon Silly Gilly joined us on our stand creating some fantastic balloon models amazing kids (and parents) creating flowers, animals, hats and much much more!
Throughout the day there was a sea of puzzled faces surrounding our “What’s the picture?” competition which brought the competitive side out in young and old alike with picture number 1 causing the most confusion which we can now reveal was in fact a strimmer head!
We will be announcing who the lucky winner of the competition is very soon and their prize of our David Allen hamper of goodies will shortly be on its way…
The David Allen team were also showing their competitive side, Sarah Priestley and her brother Richard were showing their Pedigree Limousin and Commercial Cattle in the main ring. We were very proud to watch them win reserve champion with a 2 year old pedigree Limousin heifer.
Rounding up the attractions in the main ring we had a team of Helen Woodrow, Rachel Winder and Emily Allen enter the YFC obstacle course.
We all thoroughly enjoyed watching our ladies run through tyres, crawl through a tunnel, slide across a rather slippery surface (while having water poured on them from above), walk the plank to then jump into a freezing cold tub of water to find the numbered golf ball and run back to the rest of their team. After gaining an early lead, disaster struck when Rachel slipped and sprained her ankle.
Although Helen courageously took her teammates place jumping back into the cold water tub the damage was done… we look forward to our revenge next year! The Dalston Show committee put on a fantastic show and we were proud to be associated with such a wonderful event.
On behalf of everyone at David Allen we would like to thank everyone who made the show possible and to everyone who came along. We hope you all enjoyed the show as much as we did and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2014.
