The annual Dalston Show took place on Saturday 12 August and #teamDA were once again proud to support the local event.
Dalston Show has evolved over the years from a traditional agricultural show to a week-long celebration of fun for all the family, it has been great to see the community come together in the week leading up to the show, and to welcome everyone to our stand on the day.
We kept the field bright and colourful with our flags, banners, balloons and bunting, there was no missing us around the show field and we were thrilled to be awarded second place in ‘The Best Trade Stand’. I am here with the Presidents of the show proudly accepting our rosette.
Kerrie Allison visited the winning stand to congratulate them on their success. She is here with Mell Nicholson (Woodturner) who had a lovely showcase all of her wood turning products. She is a sole trader based in Egremont.
This year’s show was fantastic and the few showers during the morning didn’t dampen spirits with the sunshine prevailing in the afternoon. This meant everyone could take full advantage of the show, enjoy the entertainment and livestock events that took place throughout the day.
The show had a great turn out and we were able to catch up with clients, contacts and friends old and new who visited us on our stand to enjoy a chat, the refreshments, information and advice while soaking up the show’s fantastic atmosphere.
David Allen was proud to sponsor the Clydesdales, showcasing some magnificent horses.
Our cow, Daisy roamed the field throughout the day offering balloons and cuddles for young and old alike. Keeping Daisy company was our resident calf Finlay who stood pride of place on our stand along with representatives from across the whole David Allen group of businesses.
A special thank you once again to the ladies from Abacus Children’s Day Nursery who entertained the children with face painting, a farm yard, colouring pages and a sensory dome. Everyone had a fantastic time, the fun activities throughout the day were a great addition to our stand. Here are Tyler and Jenna Bowe enjoying the children’s activities.
Our competition was well received and passers-by enjoyed having their photo taken with our cut out cow which they then posted using the hashtag #DavidAllen. We will be announcing the winner of the competition shortly and their ‘goodie packed’ David Allen hamper, including a brand new Samsung Galaxy tablet will be on its way soon to the lucky winner.
Our very own Sarah Priestley was thrilled with her final summer show of the year. Brontemoor Lotto awarded Champion Limousin, Overall Beef Interbreed and Champion of Champions! Also winning Champion Beef Pairs for the third year in a row, this time with Brontemoor Max and Brontemoor Lotto.
We would like to thank everyone who made the show possible and all who came along to see us on the day. A special thank you to the show committee who work tirelessly to continually improve the show each year. We hope that you all enjoyed the day as much as we did and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2018.
