This morning, Friday 28 November 2013 I attended the digital business breakfast at Furness College.
The event was organised by in-Cumbria and Big Cumbria.
Speakers included Paul Cretney from BT who updated us about the plans and progress of the superfast broadband rollout in Cumbria and they are still on target to provide superfast broadband to 93% of Cumbria before December 2015, with commercial premises set to receive the faster speeds by spring 2014.
Edward O’Keefe from Furness Internet gave an overview of how faster internet speeds will transform the way websites can offer E-Commerce. Grahame Sowerby from SCK gave an insight in how to top the Google rankings with search engine optimisation techniques and Tony Wilson from Indelible Data gave a talk on data security including the Cryptolocker ransomware which is attacking small businesses at the minute.
Overall the meeting was very topical and informative.
