Defra and the Government have announced that there will be support payments of up to £20,000 available to farmers who have been affected by the recent Cumbrian floods in order to help restore damaged agricultural land.
The Farming Recovery Fund aims to support farmers in covering uninsured recovery costs such as repairing damaged soils, tracks, and flood channels, with key focus on restoring productive grassland, arable and horticultural land, farm vehicle access and repairing agricultural drainage.
The Government has also stated that the Rural Payments Agency will be relaxing inspection requirements on farmers in flood hit areas. They will also allow flexibility in cross compliance and animal movement rules for those affected.
