Getting to know Corey McClean, our IT Solutions Service Desk Manager.
What did you aspire to be as a child?
If I’m being honest an Ice Cream Man but obviously just to eat lots of ice cream haha!
What does a typical day at work involve?
A typical day at work is never really the same. IT is very reactive so it’s hard to plan the day as you don’t know what issues are going to be called in. I’d say the things that I do every day are Job Allocation at the start of the day and Job Catch-Up at the end of the day to see how everyone is progressing with support jobs.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
My favourite part of my job is talking to different people and going to different client sites, every day is different which is good!
What drew you to work at David Allen, and how has your career progressed since starting?
I was looking for an apprenticeship just before I finished school and managed to get an interview at David Allen as an IT Apprentice around 5 years ago. I started doing internal IT for the Accountancy side and then moved over to the IT Solutions team as a Technician. I then got promoted to Service Desk Manager in around November time.
If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day, who would it be and why?
Defiantly Mauricio Pochettino the Tottenham manager. I support Tottenham and would love to be in the dressing room with the players before a match.
Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
The first one that comes to mind is A Bug’s Life because my friends call me bug – don’t ask!
What is the first piece of advice you would give an aspiring IT professional?
No question is a stupid question. So don’t be scared to ask questions because that’s the only way you learn.
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
At the minute I’m watching Friends for the first time and I’m just about done and don’t know why I haven’t watched it sooner. I’d have to say Ross is my favourite!
What is your Monday Motivation?
I’d say my Monday Motivation is Greg James from the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, I always listen to him on my way to work.
