Tell us about yourself
I joined the David Allen team as an Accounts Assistant in October 2017. Since leaving university my goal was to become a Chartered Accountant and I have most recently passed my Tax Compliance and Financial Management exams. The ACA qualification is both challenging and highly rewarding and I am thoroughly enjoying my studies so far.
What did you aspire to be as a child?
Firstly I wanted to be a vet and then a forensic scientist. However, it is not as exciting as TV makes it out to be.
What do you feel most proud of in your life to date?
There are many things I have done that I feel proud of. One that stands out is a few years ago now, I won an international forklift operator of the year competition. No one expected me to win, so I even surprised myself. It was also a great opportunity to represent and encourage women in logistics.
Describe your job in three words.
Challenging, engaging and diverse.
What drew you to work at David Allen, and how has your career progressed since starting?
I had heard great things about working at David Allen and this was confirmed when I came in for interview. I met with a few key members of the management team and by the time I left, I knew this is where I wanted to work and start my training. I have commenced my ACA training since starting and the team are so supportive and help me to develop my skills.
How has your ACA training helped you in your role?
I feel it has provided me with the necessary skills to tackle the daily challenges of the role. I am much more confident and can apply my learning to my day to day work.
What is your strongest personal quality?
My determination, I never give up.
If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day, who would it be and why?
Steve Irwin – I was in awe of his passion for wildlife and all the incredible conservation work he was part of. I admired his hands on approach and his ability to entertain and educate. Also it would be quite the experience to wrestle a croc!
