Getting to know Hannah Cundall, our Marketing Senior.
Tell us about yourself
I joined David Allen in July 2016 as a Marketing Senior. I actually read History at University and had no set plan for my career, other than that it was now finally the time to start earning some money! I sort of fell into the world of marketing at my previous place of work and have since developed a passion for it, completing both my Level 4 Certificate and Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing in my time to date at David Allen, I would love one day to gain my Chartered status.
What did you aspire to be as a child?
I really wanted to work in fashion. I was particularly obsessed with Vogue, but the reality was I didn’t want to leave Cumbria and they were never going to open an office in Carlisle, so I explored other options so I could stay close to home.
What do you feel most proud of in your life to date?
Graduating from University made me very proud, knowing all the hard work had paid off and getting to celebrate the success with friends and family was an added bonus.
Describe your job in three words.
Varied, exciting and fulfilling.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
Organising events is one of the most fulfilling parts of my role, seeing everything come together and knowing you have had a positive impact on the business. The team fully appreciate all your hard work, and it is an excellent opportunity to learn more about different aspects of the business.
What drew you to work at David Allen, and how has your career progressed since starting?
The variation of the role and it has proved correct, one day I could be working on a tender for an audit pitch and the next having my photo taken down at David’s farm with new-born lambs for a PR piece. I believe there is nowhere else quite like it, I have gained so much experience to date.
What is your strongest personal quality?
I can’t choose between kind and thoughtful, so I will go with both. Thoughtful is probably the most relevant and beneficial to my job, thinking carefully about things before acting, which helps to ensure I always have a well thought out plan.
If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day, who would it be and why?
It would have been Karl Lagerfeld; Creative Director of Chanel, Fendi and his own eponymous fashion label. To see how he worked, be part of the inner fashion circle and that Fendi Show which took place on the Trevi Fountain was just breath-taking.
Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
Had I gone down the fashion route ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ – except I’m Andy … not Miranda! Instead it’s more ‘Sweet Home Alabama (Carlisle)’
What is the first piece of advice you would give an aspiring Marketing Professional?
Always keep up to date, as things become more and more digitalised you have to and don’t be afraid to challenge people.
What is your Monday Motivation?
I like to look forward to key moments in the year to keep motivated and coffee, coffee always helps.
