Getting to know Jordan McCulloch our HR Assistant.
Tell us about yourself
I started at David Allen in November 2017 in the payroll department, when I left my last job I was sure I didn’t want to go into HR again but when the opportunity came up I realised how much I missed working in HR so jumped at the chance! I have 8 years’ experience in HR practice and I am also CIPD level 3 qualified and working towards my level 5 qualification. I’m really enjoying my role and love helping people when they have a complex problem – most likely to do with employment law but I love the challenge!
What did you aspire to be as a child?
A vet! Until I realised it wasn’t all cuddling puppies and kittens.
What do you feel most proud of in your life to date?
Getting through a tough time and coming out the other side!
Describe your job in three words.
Challenging, varied, rewarding.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
The satisfaction of solving a problem and helping someone.
What drew you to work at David Allen, and how has your career progressed since starting?
I had heard from other people that it was a great place to work so I was excited to get started! I started off in Payroll but when the opportunity came up to move into HR I jumped at the chance as HR is what I’m passionate about. I’m now working towards my CIPD level 5 qualification which is challenging but will really help to boost my knowledge and my career.
What is your strongest personal quality?
I’m very organised and always want to get the job done.
If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day, who would it be and why?
Professor Brian Cox because I would love to have his knowledge of the universe! Or Dave Grohl because who doesn’t want to be a rock star?!
Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
What is the first piece of advice you would give an aspiring HR professional?
You need to develop a thick skin and don’t take anything personally!
What is your Monday Motivation?
Always have a to-do list! I can’t cope without my notepad because it has everything in that I need to do, short term and long term goals too.
