Getting to know Victoria Lawson our Senior Tax Consultant.
Tell us about yourself
I started with David Allen in July 2018 and haven’t looked back. I work alongside Sue Jeffrey, Tax Partner, in our Tax Consultancy department advising individuals and businesses on all things Tax.
What did you aspire to be as a child?
A vet or anything working with animals. I had a brief spell of wanting to be a professional show jumper or polo player but that was probably more down to reading Jilly Cooper books rather than any ability to do either of those things!
What do you feel most proud of in your life to date?
Learning to swim and completing the Lakesman full distance triathlon. I mention this a lot, I know.
Describe your job in three words.
Challenging, diverse and interesting.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
Helping clients understand a problem and working with them to plan around / solve that problem. Obviously, my work colleagues are up there too.
What drew you to work at David Allen, and how has your career progressed since starting?
I came to work at David Allen to work with Sue Jeffrey to help build the tax consultancy offering here.
What is your strongest personal quality?
Determination…..I rarely give up (although some would say I am stubborn rather than determined!)
If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day, who would it be and why?
As I am writing this, I am mourning the end of a brilliant Tour De France so I’ll say Geraint Thomas; he’s a brilliant cyclist and comes across as such a nice person.
Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
Brave (Disney Pixar).
What is the first piece of advice you would give an aspiring Tax professional?
Tax constantly changes – don’t be afraid to ask for help.
What is your Monday Motivation?
Don’t give in.
