|Leanne and the group after the race|
Sunday 14 April 2013 saw our fourth half marathon and this time, 8 of us traveled to Edinburgh for the Rock and Roll half marathon.
The Rock and Roll series hosts marathons all around the world and this one promised to be a good one, with a band at every other mile and a mini festival at the finish.
This time, we all went up on the Saturday due to the early start time and the weather was lovely apart from the odd gust of wind, perfect running weather if it would carry on until Sunday.
How wrong we were!
On Sunday morning, we got up to torrential rain and gales, the complete opposite of the day before. As we made our way to the start, we were soaked! Some of the portaloos at the start had blown over and everyone was huddling into the nearest tent to try and get some shelter.
We were set off in waves and as we crossed the start line, we knew it was going to be the hardest one yet, as we were promised 4 miles of uphill in one part. Nevertheless, we made it round the grueling course and all got over the finish line, albeit a bit soggy and exhausted.
In the finishing area, the tents set up to collect the bags and t shirts had blown away and because of the weather and most people left straight away, rather than staying for the mini festival.
Most of us are still recovering from the run on Sunday, but in 4 weeks time, half marathon number 5 will be upon us, this time we will be taking part in the Leeds half marathon.
Thank you to everyone for your support so far.
