Hog roast 2013

On Saturday 24 August 2013 David and Alison hosted their annual hog roast in the garden at their home.

The sunshine Alison had ordered on Friday looked dubious to arrive first thing in the morning, but by mid-afternoon when everyone descended on to the Allen household, the rain clouds had disappeared and we were all even treated to some sunshine.

A huge thank you to everyone who brought a salad or desert to accompany the delicious hog which was provided by Nick Lawler from Whole Hog Hospitality.  Nick had been cooking our pig since 7 that morning and all his hard work definitely paid off and was very much appreciated by all!

Alison (and Lilly) collecting her award

Alison then surprised everyone by announcing an awards ceremony featuring some fantastic awards such as the office's sexiest/fittest male – David Scott, most precise – Rachel Park, best tan – Cath Carruthers and the overall contribution award for Alison Welton.

All of the lucky winners received their very own David Allen Awards trophy and special prize to go with their brand new office titles!

The afternoon's fun wasn't over after the awards. We were all then kept entertained by Leanne and her sports day which was hilarious for both competitors and spectators, featuring classic races such as egg and spoon, space hopper race, wheelbarrow, sack race, three legged race and a piggyback race.

With some entrants letting their competitive spirits out while others used slightly different tactics we saw some brilliant sights even witnessing a new style of hopping the three legged race!

A new tactic for the space hopper race

Our sporting fun was all for a good cause as all those taking part (and some of those enjoying from the side) donated money towards Leanne's fundraising for Eden Valley Hospice.

On your marks… get set…go!!

By the end of the afternoon Leanne had over £90 in her pot which really was great!

Both adults and children alike were kept entertained with the variety of inflatable toys and games including a giant slide and gladiator style soft battle game.

Everyone had a fantastic day and we are all looking forward to next year's hog roast.

A glimpse of the wheelbarrow madness!

A huge thank you to David and Alison for opening their home to us!
