On Thursday 17 August David Allen were proud sponsors of the first show and sale of store lambs at Hopes Auction.
Judge Jacob Stoddart awarded championship to RM & AE Bell, High Fell Farm, Hallbankgate with a pen of 10 Dutch Texel lambs which later went on to sell for £95.00 each to the judge himself. In reserve was Robert Atkinson of Beckhill Farm whose pen of 10 Beltex Cross lambs later went on to sell for £105.00 each. Congratulations to both the winners.
We were also proud to sponsor the ‘grand night out’ evening show and sale of commercial rams on Friday 18 August.
Hopes second evening show and sale of rams was a huge success, bringing together a superb quality show. The crammed ringside of prospective purchasers ensured demand for all types and they had a fantastic trade throughout the evening with a great atmosphere in the mart.
The top price of the evening went to the champion Non-MV Accredited ram, a Beltex Cross Texel Shearling from KJ and CS Wilson Ltd, Wood Farm, Thursby. This ram which showed all the qualities the modern market desires, attracted great interest and went on to sell for £1,800.00 to Mr Davies of Garthbrengy, Wales. The same home also took the reserve champion in the Non-MV Accredited section which made £1400.00, this time staying local to Messrs Harrison.
It was a pleasure to attend and support both of the events and we were very proud to sponsor and be involved with Hopes Auction.
