This weekend (6/7 June 2014) saw the 18th annual Keswick Beer Festival held at Keswick Rugby Club. The weekend started early for any sponsors of the event with the sponsors night on Thursday evening which consisted of a couple of hours sampling some of the two hundred plus beers, ciders and lagers on offer over the weekend. The evening was well attended with a number of local business people and was a great opportunity to socialise with a number of clients and local business contacts.
David Allen sponsored a golden ale produced by Wiltshire based brewery, Wadworth & Co. The beer labelled ‘Ipanema’ is brewed with two hops to give a punchy, zingy, citrus flavour and tasted great in the afternoon sun.
The main event took place on the Friday evening and throughout Saturday and as ever, was extremely busy with a mixture of locals, tourists, hen and stag parties. The event was a sell out with over 5,000 people expected over the course of the weekend. In addition to all the different drinks on offer there was also a fantastic food tent full of locally sourced produce available to try.
Entertainment over the weekend consisted of a number of bands with ‘The Moobs’ headlining the Friday evening and ‘The Emerald Thieves’ on the Saturday.
As ever the weather had its part to play over the weekend, after a great sunny evening on the Friday, Saturday was looking to be a wash out. Fortunately after a couple of heavy showers during the afternoon the sun reappeared allowing everyone to make the most of the space outside.
As previous years the event was a great success, Keswick Rugby Club and Keswick Lions Club can be very proud of their efforts providing a weekend of great entertainment. The David Allen team look forward to next year’s festival and will most definitely be in attendance again.
