The Lakes Hospitality Association continually works hard to promote the accommodation and hospitality in our region so it was good to see The Lakes Hospitality Trade Show very well attended again when I went yesterday, 25 February 2014.
Held at The Daffodil Hotel at Grasmere, there was a large variety of exhibitors both in the main waterside exhibition room and the marquee area meaning we were able to catch up with many of our clients and professional contacts.
It was interesting to talk to Karen Mitchell from Roland Hill Renewable Energy Systems (pictured with Jane) about how biomass boilers are making significant cost savings for many hotels and guest houses and can be a good source of regular income in a seasonal trade. Business owners are continually looking to make their money go further and it has never been more important for them to stay ahead of the competition and improve their market share.
There were also some good networking sessions and workshops taking place throughout the day and a chance to take a test drive in one of the electric cars on display in the car park courtesy of Lloyds BMW motors.
Held over two days, this was a great opportunity to meet with other people and businesses within the hospitality and tourism trade.
