I have recently been appointed as a trustee of a new charity called The Odyssey Foundation and was delighted to be involved in a comedy night called ‘Laugh Yourself Better’ at the Swallow Hilltop Hotel on Friday 3 January.
170 people came along for a fantastic night of music and comedy. Patrick Monahan, comedian, headlined the night and had everyone laughing. We also enjoyed music from local bands Mel and the Mellotones and Fireball.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the night and it was a great success with almost £3,000 being raised for the charity. The new charity will be based in Cumbria and aims to bridge the gap between medical aspects of cancer treatment and home. It also aims to provide a recovery package where you can get high quality professional and personal advice on any aspect of the disease however it has affected you or your family.
The charity has lots more events planned so look out for announcements of our next fundraising event.
