|Leanne and her running team|
Sunday 28 August 2013 was half marathon number 8 out of 10 and this time we were in Fleetwood near Blackpool.
The weather had been hit and miss all week, so we were unsure what to expect. I was praying for rain and a cooler day, but that wasn’t to be, as by the time we got down there, it was really warm and glorious sunshine.
|After the race|
There were 543 entrants into this race, so a slightly smaller run than some of the others, but nevertheless it was well supported and a good atmosphere with a lot of people cheering us on.
We were sent round a loop along a few housing estates and back along the coast. There wasn’t much shade to hide from the sun, so we had to do the majority of it with the sun beating down on us. On the upside though the course was flat, so some of us managed to improve on our times.
531 people finished the run and we all made it round safely. We will need to make a quick recovery to be ready for the next and biggest half marathon out of our 10, the Great North Run on 15 September.
