Network Whitehaven

Posted: January 17th, 2014

The Chamber of Commerce launched the first of its Network Whitehaven for 2014 last night (16 January 2014) at the Waterfront, Whitehaven.

I had a chance to wish regulars to the meeting a Happy New Year and discuss the opportunities and challenges for the year ahead.

I also caught up with Mike Morris from the Chamber of Commerce who gave me some interesting feedback on how the Growth Hub has been received by many of the members on the programme.  Many of those signed up for the scheme will have completed their 12 week intensive support package and will have their exit interviews shortly.

It has been a busy week in nuclear this week with the announcement that Toshiba will be taking a 60% share in the NuGen project at Moorside.  NuGen is set to construct three new nuclear plants at the Moorside site, north of the current Sellafield site, and this was a topic discussed at the meeting as it will have a huge impact on the local business community.

If you are interested in joining the Chamber of Commerce, taking part in the networking and breakfast club meetings please email mike@cumbriachamber.co.uk.
