The Waterfront restaurant and bar was the venue of tonights Cumbria Chamber of Commerce network Whitehaven event. Thanks are sent to Adrian Romea from the Waterfront who was a gracious host and provided delicious refreshments throughout the evening.
Mike Morris representing the Chamber introduced me to Ian Stephenson of Technology Consortia Ltd who is keen to provide marketing and management advice to small businesses in West Cumbria. Anthony Lawrence, business development manager of Amec and past chairman of the West Cumbria business cluster discussed with me how Amec has been able to buffer itself from the effects of the recession and continue to provide local employment through the three year deal they have been awarded by Sellafield for environmental consultancy.
Geoff Wallace of Green Design Group, a local firm of a Chartered Architects attended and we talked about the Green Deal and the importance of networking as a method of growth and relationship building. My evening ended with a very lively chat with two representatives of Downton Travel who with Ian and Geoff were more than willing to pose for the blog photo.
The Cumbria Chamber of Commerce will hold their next networking event at Whitehaven Market Hall on 18 July 2012.
