Not wanting to be outdone by the recent Linux/Apple Shellshock bug. Microsoft has released 14 new updates to fix a critical bug in its own operating system software, this is a bug that they just discovered has existed for 19 years.
The bug was detected by IBM earlier this year and both Microsoft and IBM have worked on this problem in secret and prepared a series of updates that have now been released this month. This bug exists in all Windows operating systems dating back to Windows 95.
While Microsoft have confirmed there is no known source code to exploit the bug, it is extremely important to understand that now this bug has been made public, hacking communities will start to write exploits and use the vulnerability to their advantage.
The important message here is to ensure any computer equipment you have is receiving and installing regular Microsoft security updates, particularly this months. David Allen IT Solutions News work with companies to ensure that their computer systems are protected from such threats as this.
