I started my #TeamDA journey in June 2021, after I was drawn to their excellent reputation amongst employees and their willingness to help people achieve their goals. They also have a modern, flexible approach to the way they work.
After working as a car salesman for 13 months, I realised it wasn’t for me and took to accountancy. I started as an AAT Trainee and I am now studying towards my ACCA, having already passed 5 out of 10 exams.
When I joined my first accountancy practice, I started as an audit junior. Having done this role for just over two years, it really opened up my mind as to how other businesses operate. During this time, I went on a very interesting audit to Los Angeles for a week. This was a great personal achievement and here I learnt about the US financial regulations, so we could carry out the audit effectively.
I then went into accounts production which involved the preparation of financial accounts, VAT returns, management accounts, personal tax, corporation tax and general advice to clients.
I have a wide range of knowledge for different clients in different situations, I can produce a set of accounts for all and offer advice where it is needed. I really enjoy learning about my clients’ businesses and how they operate. It’s a great feeling giving clients’ good news such as being able to reduce their tax, or showing their profit was higher than their expectations.
My clients would say that I am very easy to get on with and have a genuine interest in the success of their business. I will always do my best to make sure that my clients understand the advice I am giving them and take the time to go through things where required.
Fun facts – During the last year I have been able to purchase my own flat in Kendal. I like to follow football, especially Burnley FC! I have my standard GCSE’s, but then also studied Further and Additional Maths at both GCSE and A Level.
