I have worked in financial services for 16 years, having started my career with Barclays Bank and then Skipton Building Society. After six years, I joined a financial services company in Penrith where I worked as a paraplanner whilst undertaking my financial advice exams. I then moved to an accountancy practice where I advised clients on personal and corporate financial planning with a focus on pension and investment planning.
I joined David Allen in 2020, working in the industry for a competitor I kept a close eye on how other firms worked and was impressed by the set up at David Allen. Having a team of specialists that offer mortgages, insurances, Wills and tax planning means that I can focus my skills on providing investment and pension planning whilst being able to refer clients internally to a specialist in their own area for other matters that we can assist with. I firmly believe in holistic planning and having this all under the same umbrella provides a fantastic service.
My strongest skill is making the complex simple. My clients set off on a journey to achieve their goals and they understand along every step of the way how their plan is doing which gives them confidence to make sometimes life changing decisions, such as retiring earlier than planned knowing that they have the plan in place to comfortably do so.
My greatest professional achievement was when I was awarded ‘Investment Companies Financial Planner of the Year’ (October 2018) through the Financial Times Money Management Awards, one of the professions highest accolades.
