Julie joined David Allen in March 2004 as an Accounts Assistant. She had been working for an accountancy practice in West Cumbria but recognised the opportunities at David Allen to build a career. Julie is a farmer’s daughter and lives in Silloth. She was educated at Solway Community School until the age of 16 and then completed her A Levels at Nelson Thomlinson School.
As an Accounts Assistant, Julie prepared sole trader and partnership accounts along with VAT returns. She also started training towards her Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification with System Group, which she completed within two years. It was clear that Julie wanted to succeed in everything that she did and she would always push on and take full responsibility and ownership of tasks in order to get the job done.
Following completion of the AAT qualification, Julie knew she wanted to work with businesses providing practical advice and she decided to build on her tax knowledge by completing the Association of Taxation Technician (ATT) qualification. Her dedication, hard work and commitment meant that she was quickly promoted to Accounts Senior and then on to Supervisor of the sole traders and partnership department and then to Business Adviser. A key part of Julie’s role is the training and development of accounts assistants and she thrives on seeing people develop and succeed.
Julie’s hard work, commitment and dedication to succeed in all that she does has meant she has built a career where she is now responsible for managing a team of 12 people who prepare sole trader and partnership accounts and she works closely with over 200 clients, providing practical advice related to their accountancy, tax and VAT affairs.
Julie said “I knew when I joined the practice that there were great opportunities for me to develop a career and I have, I’ve worked hard and this has been rewarded. I love working with the team and helping them develop while providing practical advice to my clients to help them succeed.”
