Sheryl Dobson

Success story

Sheryl joined David Allen in February 2011 as an Employer Services Assistant.  When an opportunity arose to assist our Associate Julie Osborn with some analysis for accounts work, Sheryl jumped at this and quickly realised this was the career path for her.

Moving over to the Accounts department, she started training towards her Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification, which she completed within two years.  It was clear that Sheryl wanted to take advantage of every opportunity offered to her and develop a successful career and her hard work and commitment paid off.

While completing her AAT qualification, Sheryl took a leading role in her team being actively involved in the training of new employees into the department and as a result she was promoted to Accounts Supervisor and more recently Training and Development Manager for all new Accounts Assistants joining the David Allen team.  Sheryl said “I really enjoy my job and training is something I have always loved doing, as I see individuals progress as a result of my guidance and influence.”

Sheryl’s role is vital to ensure all new starters are given the best possible start to their career with David Allen, learning and embedding the basics of accounting standards while understanding the culture of delivering an exceptional level of service to clients.

Sheryl’s dedication, commitment and hard work has meant she has built a career where she is now responsible for managing a team of Accounts Assistants who prepare sole trader and partnership accounts along with VAT returns for a range of different businesses.  To support her role she is currently undertaking an Institute of Leadership and Management course to develop her personally which she is scheduled to complete in September 2017.
