On Thursday 7 November 2013 I attended an entertaining evening of country clothing from T W Relphs & Son of Yanwath. The evening was hosted at Penrith Auction Mart and was in aid of local charity – North Lakeland Hospice at Home.
It was the first in a series of fundraising events being organised by 8 local ladies who plan to cycle from London to Paris in Summer 2014. On arrival we were all greeted with beef rolls and a chance to catch up with friends with drinks while raffle tickets were being sold. David Allen donated a large hamper to be included as a raffle prize with all proceeds raised from the evening going to North Lakeland Hospice at Home.
The auction ring was jam packed with people attending the event and T W Relphs used £1,200 worth of goods and clothes which were modelled by people well known in the local farming community.
Models were aged from 4 years old upwards and the evening featured the following categories:
|James Thornton Agricultural Business Manager at Lloyds Bank|
Men from the Mart
It’s a Vet’s Life
The Land Agents
The Number Crunchers
YFC Go Wild
And The Big Reveal
Overall I enjoyed a light-hearted evening of clothing and banter from the ring and was proud to support the fundraising event.
