Selected for the Cumbria ‘A’ pool squad

Posted: December 11th, 2012

I have always been a very keen pool player and since the age of 14, I have been playing in local leagues and gaining experience before building up the confidence to play at a higher level.
Playing in these local leagues did lead to me being called up to the Cumbria ‘B’ pool squad while I was studying at Durham University. Unfortunately, due to the amount of travelling involved, I was unable to make a full commitment although I did play in one match for the experience.
However, over the last 18 months I have been involved in playing for a new pool team in the Carlisle Super Pool league on Wednesday nights as well as playing for a new Solway team in an Inter-county league once per month on a Sunday which enabled me to meet pool players all over Cumbria.
As a result of winning the Carlisle Super Pool League singles competition earlier this year and from my current record in the Inter-county league, this has led to me being called up to the Cumbria ‘A’ pool squad expected to commence in March 2013.
This gives me the opportunity to initially play against the best pool players from Lancashire, Cheshire, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside and if we perform well enough, we will play in the National finals to play against the best players in the country at the end of the season.
Our ‘Connecting Newsletter’, to be sent out to our clients at the end of this week, includes a staff profile of me and my involvement in pool as well as more detail as to what my role is at David Allen.
