Thursday 4 September 2014 saw the start of the 14th annual Silloth Music and Beer Festival, a four day event held on Silloth Green.
The festival is sponsored by local businesses and as a supporter of the event I had the pleasure of attending on Friday evening on behalf of the David Allen Group.
There were over 100 real ales and ciders on offer and a superb line up of music from all different genres over the weekend. The headlining act on Friday was Roy G Hemmings with his tribute to Mowtown. Roy is a international superstar having appeared at the White House, for then president Bill Clinton, as well as at the Royal Albert Hall to name just a couple of the prestigious venues he has appeared in around the world. As an original Drifters member, Roy’s show is designed to be a celebration of timeless Motown and soul songs and the band certainly didn’t disappoint. With hits by The Supremes, Four Tops, Temptations and Marvin Gaye the dance floor was full and the tent was bouncing!
I had a very enjoyable night and it was great to have the opportunity to catch up with other local businesses and to see the event so well attended and supported. Next year will be the 15th annual festival and plans are already underway to deliver something bigger and better!
