Skelton Show 2015

Posted: July 6th, 2015

The 2015 Skelton Show took place on Saturday 4 July and, as always, we were proud to support the show.  Our trade stand took pride of place next to the main ring with representatives from all arms of the David Allen Group in attendance to enjoy all of the show’s events and welcome everyone on to our stand to enjoy nibbles, refreshments and a chat.

With the heatwave Cumbria had been enjoying all week everyone had their fingers crossed that the glorious weather would hold out for the weekend, and after some dramatic thunder storms first thing in the morning, the clouds cleared and the sun broke through – which certainly caused a few queues at the ice cream vans!

Once again the show had a fantastic turn out and we were all able to catch up with a number of our existing clients and meet some new faces too, and all while enjoying a fantastic view of the main ring from our marquee.

We were proud to sponsor the classes: Texel ram lamb, Beltex gimmer shearling, and British Blue unserved heifer, all of which showcased some magnificent animals.

Each year at the show we hold our annual competition, in which we give everyone at the show the chance of winning one of our luxury, and ever popular, David Allen hampers.  This year’s competition was ‘Mini Me’.  During the weeks leading up to the show members of our team had rummaged through old photo albums to find a picture of themselves as a baby and our competition participants were asked to guess which baby had grown up into which David Allen team member.  This certainly caused a lot of laughs and even if we do say so ourselves, our team were very cute babies!  The winner of our competition will be announced shortly so keep an eye out on our Twitter feed to see if you managed to work out who all of our ‘Mini Me’s’ were.

We’re already looking forward to our next agricultural show outing which will be on 1 August at the Cockermouth Show, so once again please come along to see us and say ‘hello’, it would be great to catch up with you.
