Last Thursday, myself and 10 of my friends set off up to Balado, Kinross for our annual trip to T in the Park, where 4 days camping and watching our favourite music artists ensued. With the weather we had been having lately, we all watched the forecast closely beforehand.
Rain was predicted but we thought showers would be the most we would get and so eagerly set off on Thursday morning. There was no music scheduled for Thursday, so a good pitch for our tents and a few drinks kept us in good spirits for our first night on hard ground.
Friday was fancy dress day and the theme this year was Fairytale Wonderland, although the ongoing theme in our group is The Smurfs, so blue face paint was the order of the day. That night, the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs, Professor Green and Tinie Tempah were met with great support and seemed to keep the rain away.
No amount of great acts and high spirits could stop the rain that came on Saturday! The already soft ground turned to sludge in no time at all and the tents on lower ground got caked in mud. We were lucky and although a bit soggy, saw some more great acts on Saturday afternoon/night.
Sunday was a different story, the arena area was knee deep in mud in some places and after a few drinks, some people thought a mud bath was a good idea! The trek back to the car with our bags was a mission and a half and even now I’m back on solid ground, it still feels weird not to be trudging in knee deep mud! The few clothes that I took with me were soggy by Sunday afternoon and I had to beg and borrow clothes (as you may see).
All in all though, the weather hasn’t knocked our spirits and were all waiting for this Friday to be able to buy next year’s tickets.
