The 175th Cumberland Show took place at Carlisle Racecourse on Saturday 8 June 2013.
As proud sponsors of the event staff including David Allen, Sandra Gowling, Michael Peile and Derek Baty attended the show with guests enjoying the hospitality of the corporate centre.
After enjoying champagne and delicious canapés overlooking the main ring, show Chairman Gillian Potts’ speech welcomed everyone to the show and explained the amazing 175 years of history of the show and how far it has come from the amalgamation of the Brampton and Carlisle shows all those years ago and thanking everyone for their support.
A number of other members of the David Allen team also attended the show catching up with clients and professional contacts at their stands around the show field while enjoying the beautiful sunshine. This was the best weather the show had seen for 7 years and a huge contrast to previous shows with parts of the grass actually needing watered before the show!
David Allen sponsored the Shetland Pony Grand National. This consisted of two heats before a final race with the prize of winning a qualifying place for the Shetland Pony Grand National Olympia. Derek had great pride in handing the winning rosette to Charlie Todd who was riding Eastlands Mighty Mark.
After the final of the Shetland Pony Grand National, staff and guests enjoyed the afternoon tea served in the Corporate Centre while watching the lightning fast Terrier Racing take place in the main ring. David proudly presented the winning dog and owner with their rosettes.
