On Sunday 17 April 2011 in an attempt to raise money for the Mayor of Carlisle’s Charity Fund I took part in a sponsored sky dive at Cark Airfield along with my daughter Rebecca, Jaimi Wilson from David Allen; Carol Roberts of Carol Roberts Couture Bridal; Shirley Wilkinson of J & S Wilkinson; Karen Brownrigg from Carlisle Race Course; Karen Walker an Occupational Therapist and Roger Smith, Yvonne Pascoe and Andrea Crowther all from Thomas Graham.
The Mayor of Carlisle Mary Styth and Consort Jim Styth both showed their support by attending what was promised to be a fantastic day.
Chris and Nicola Reay from Reays Coaches kindly donated their new VIP coach to transport us and our support team to the airfield, arriving on time at 9.00am. After only 30 minutes of instructions we made our way over to the plane to set off. Quickly climbing into the air, my nerves started to kick in. With the plane hovering 2 miles above the ground it was my turn to jump… sitting with my legs hanging over the side of the plane, my instructor launched us literally into ‘thin air’. The rush of freefall was exhilarating – something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime.
I would like to thank everyone who took part in the Sky Dive along with their supporters. A special thank you goes to everyone who sponsored our brave jumpers and helped raise a substantial amount of money for a very worthwhile cause.
The thrill of parachuting is amazing and I would not hesitate in recommending it. For a business looking for something completely different as a teambuilding event… go for it… you won’t regret it.
