Odyssey Foundation Cumbria is a charity that aims to enhance and improve the quality of life for anyone affected by cancer. Our very own Alison Welton, Staff Partner at David Allen, is a trustee of Odyssey and has raised awareness of the charity around the office and we are proud to support and help raise money for such a great cause.
Sandra Jones founded the Odyssey Foundation in 2013. She chose to create the charity after being given the devastating news she had cancer in 2011. Sandra underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment and lost her hair as a result. While going through her treatments she met a number of amazing people going through similar experiences and when speaking with them heard a common theme… they all wished that they had more support and someone they could just speak to.
After completing her treatments Sandra decided she would be there to support people in the way that they wished for and so she set up the Odyssey Foundation. The foundation is a charity for anyone who is, or has been, affected by cancer in any way, be this as a patient, carer, friend, relative or neighbour. The foundation aims to provide practical support and advice through every stage of a person’s cancer journey.
The Odyssey Foundation has been shortlisted by the Lloyd Community Fund as one of four causes in our local area to win the Community Fund Award. By winning this prestigious award they would be granted up to £3,000 of funding. This funding would provide support to so many families when they need it most, when battling through the challenge of cancer. To have the chance to be given this funding the Odyssey Foundation need your support in the form of votes.
Every vote is appreciated and valued, so please take a few seconds out of your day and vote for Odyssey so that the charity can help those affected by cancer.
