There has been a buzz of excitement around the David Allen offices in recent weeks after Alison Allen announced that she needed twelve female volunteers for a secret event.
With rumours spreading of what Alison had planned, there was clearly some apprehension amongst the volunteers with the differing thoughts ranging from potting plants or a mammoth office clean to a ladies of David Allen calendar!
After keeping us in suspense for over a week Alison randomly chose the lucky twelve. She continued to keep us speculating right up to two days before, only giving us clues that we would need to prepare ourselves and make some decisions before the evening.
Eventually, putting the rumours to rest, Alison revealed to us that she would be treating us all to a relaxing evening on Wednesday 9 April, to include a treatment of our choice at The Retreat Health and Beauty Salon near Kirkbride.
On arrival we were greeted with luxurious fluffy robes and slippers and once changed we had the opportunity to relax in the lounge area. The staff members taking part were from different teams across the office and it was lovely to have an opportunity to socialise together. Alison had arranged refreshments and a tasty buffet, (including wine for those of us who weren’t driving) to enjoy whilst we waited to be called in for our treatments.
Most of the group had opted for total relaxation treatments with included full body massages, some with hot stones and Indian head massages for the more stressed amongst us! Trudi however, (who had never been to a spa before) decided to go for it and have her eyebrows tinted and threaded! After waiting patiently, albeit slightly nervously while everyone else had their treatments, Trudi was called in last to have her treatment, but not before we all wound her up about how much it was going to hurt her! In the end Trudi didn’t even flinch and came out with beautiful new eyebrows.
We would all like to thank Alison and David for treating us to a such a lovely evening where we were all truly pampered and left feeling relaxed and re-energised. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Tina and her team at The Retreat Health and Beauty Salon for providing such fantastic treatments in such a tranquil setting. Since returning to the office someone has since made a ‘small’ request to Alison and David that we convert one of our own meeting rooms to a mini spa/treatment room, but for the moment it’s not looking likely (we can still dream!).
We decided we would all chip in and buy Alison a big bunch of flowers to show our appreciation for organising such a lovely evening – thanks again Alison!
