Tip of the week – Avoid bad debt by keeping records

It is important that you keep a record of all the communication that you have had with a customer such as letters or a log of any telephone calls.  This means that if for some reason you are away from the office a colleague can pick up a client’s file and fully understand their history, helping them decide on the best course of action.  

Always keep bounced cheques as a record as they indicate the customer’s acceptance that they owe you the money.
