The Tour of Britain certainly caused cycling fever to spread across not just our local area, but the whole of the UK, this September with cycling superstars gracing the roads of Cumbria as part of the national event.
Steve Balmer and I were invited by Graham Creighton of Aviva (one of the main sponsors of the Tour of Britain) to join their team in their corporate hospitality area at the finish line of stage 5 of the tour at Hartside Pass.
We had an amazing day enjoying the fantastic views of Cumbria from the top of Hartside; it was great to see all of the riders making their way up the long climb and over the finish line with Wout Poels of Team Sky taking the victory at the Tour’s only summit finish.
The Aviva hospitality was lovely with some wonderful refreshments on offer. It was brilliant to see all of the riders along with their support cars and busses in our local area and I was amazed by the fantastic level of organisation that went into this event.
