Working for Business and Agriculture with the Cumberland Show

Posted: January 31st, 2014

ImageOn Wednesday 29 January, Michael Peile and I attended an evening reception of Working for Business and Agriculture with the Cumberland Show at Carrs Milling Industries based in Stanwix, Carlisle.

Throughout the evening we were treated to a delicious selection of canapés supplied by Taste of Cumbria while having the opportunity to meet and talk to other previous and potential business sponsors and supporters of the show.  Taste of Cumbria have committed to attending this year’s event and there is a real buzz around them being present and the crowds they should pull in.

Tim Davies the Chief Executive Officer of Carrs Milling Industries gave a short speech on why Carrs continue to support the show year upon year and his love of Cumbria and the countyside since relocating here in 2013.  Tim had kindly opened up the business premises of Carrs Milling for the evening and warmly invited everyone to look around the office which has such a fantastic history to share.

He then introduced Gillian Potts, chairman of the Cumberland Show who gave a very passionate speech about the show and its future, including what business opportunities are available to those supporting and working with the show.  She went on to thank all the committee members who had gave and continue to give their help in planning for the 176th show which will take place on Saturday 14th June.  As always we will be involved in this year’s event and we are currently investigating the different options available to us to showcase the firm during the event, so watch this space for further upcoming details.

We would like to thank the Cumberland Show committee and Carrs Milling Industries for a wonderful evening and wish them the very best of luck for this year’s show, which I’m sure will be a fantastic family event showcasing the very best of Cumbria.  The only thing we can’t guarantee is the Cumbrian weather!
