Workplace pension and auto enrolment obligations

What is auto enrolment?

Auto enrolment is part of the new workplace pension regulations introduced by the government that will affect all employers.  If an employee matches certain criteria, relating to their age and earnings, they will have to be automatically enrolled into their employer’s pension scheme; this is known as auto enrolment. 

When will the changes happen?

All employers must have a compliant work-based pension scheme in place by their individual staging date. 
A staging date has already been allocated to each employer by The Pension Regulator.
