Sheryl Rudd

I have the privilege of joining the team in 2011 and in my role of Training and Development Manager, I work closely with the trainees’ team, managing day to day workflow targets and helping our staff develop during the early stages of their careers. I also lead the Apprenticeship Accounts Programme for our AAT students, collaborating with training providers including Carlisle College. I am particularly passionate about supporting our apprentices and it is incredibly rewarding to see them grow and succeed.

My journey into accountancy began with a strong interest in the field and I was drawn to David Allen due to our excellent reputation as a local business that values the development of its people. During my time here, I have been able to pursue both my AAT qualification and an ILM management course, which have been essential in building the skills and knowledge needed for my current role. Our commitment to fostering ambition and providing opportunities for professional growth has made it the ideal place for me to develop my career.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my job is the opportunity to share knowledge and help others progress. I take great pride in the relationships I have built with our clients and colleagues, and I am especially passionate about finding ways to make our department more efficient. Watching our apprentices seize opportunities and seeing how far they can go within the firm brings me a real sense of satisfaction.

What initially attracted me to David Allen was the company’s strong reputation, but it is the culture of teamwork and support that has truly made a difference in my career. David Allen encourages ambition and creates an environment where we all push each other to succeed. I have also been able to strike a balance between my professional development and my family life, thanks to the firm’s flexible working policy. This has allowed me to grow in my role while raising my children and being present for all the important moments.

Looking towards the future, I am excited to continue driving our early careers programme. My goal is to ensure that we continue to provide the best opportunities for our apprentices to grow and develop, helping to build a future workforce that shares the same ambition and knowledge that we value so highly at David Allen.
