Security & Protection
We understand the importance of securing your critical data and provide a wide range of security services including:
Antivirus and security software – we are an ESET Managed Service Provider (MSP), one of the leading security vendors, and will ensure all devices across your business are fully protected.
Antispam – effective junk email filtering that prevents potential threats from reaching your organisations.
Organisational policies – we can help you prepare tailored policies for your business to help staff understand their responsibilities in protecting your critical data.
Device encryption – by implementing encryption on devices, you can be assured that if the device is lost, the data remains safe thus protecting you and your business.
Office Message Encryption (OME) – with OME, you can send and receive encrypted email messages between people inside and outside your organisation, ensuring that only intended recipients can view message content.
Cyber Essentials Scheme – David Allen IT Solutions complies with the requirements of the Cyber Essentials Scheme and we are an active Cyber Essentials Practitioner. We can assist your business in achieving the Cyber Essentials accreditation standards through a consultancy session with us.
Two Factor Authentication – One of the major threats at the moment is through impersonation of valid websites in order to obtain username and password details from an individual. Once those details are obtained, access to email accounts becomes straightforward and emails can then be sent as that person requesting typically things like bank detail changes.
Protecting your usernames and passwords is imperative, and apart from ensuring these are secure and only known to yourself, further enhancements can be made using technology called Two Factor Authentication (2FA). 2FA involves using a secondary form of authentication to access your PC/Laptop, email account or remote access server. This is usually via a pin code or app installed on the users mobile phone.
We have implemented 2FA for a number of our clients now, and would strongly advise all our clients to implement 2FA into their organisation. We have cost effective solutions that help to protect you and your business.
Security Awareness Staff Training – The weakest link in a businesses IT security is unfortunately staff. Sophisticated scams including emails sent to try and obtain bank details, passwords etc, or fraudulent websites are becoming very common.
The best way to prevent an incident at your business, is to provide security awareness training to all staff. We have teamed up with one of the major on-line vendors and can provide your staff with online video training (GDPR, email phishing, general IT security and fake emails) which are tracked to see which staff are engaged and can form part of your performance management and staff’s continuous professional development.
Windows 7 End of Life – As of the 14 January 2020, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 will be unsupported by Microsoft. Once the support ceases from Microsoft the products will no longer receive security updates, and therefore become a security vulnerability on your network. All equipment running these operating systems needs to be either upgraded or replaced. As your IT department, we maintain an inventory for your organisation so you can make informed decisions on whether to upgrade these PC’s and Laptops to Windows 10 or replace them. Our team are here to help.
