Abbie Smyth

Friends, colleagues and teammates would describe me as hardworking, motivated and someone who always gives their best.  I enjoy taking on new challenges and continuously developing my skills, which is what first attracted me to a career in Accountancy.

My interest in the profession began during sixth form while studying Business.  A unit on personal and business finance quickly became my favourite topic and sparked my interest in finance based careers.  Combined with my enjoyment of maths and problem solving, it helped confirm that accountancy was the right path for me.

David Allen initially caught my attention because of its strong reputation and success across the region.  As I learnt more about the business, it was the positive culture, strong values and commitment to developing its people that really stood out.  The support and training available gave me confidence that I could continue to grow professionally while working towards further qualifications.

One of my main career ambitions is to complete my Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification and continue progressing towards becoming a Chartered Accountant.  I am excited to keep developing my knowledge, gaining experience and building a long term career with David Allen.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, travelling on city breaks and exploring new places.  I also have a passion for sport, particularly netball.  As captain of my local team, I have developed valuable leadership, teamwork and communication skills that I bring into my role every day.
